Promoting Central Vietnam Tourism in Malaysia and Indonesia

On August 26 and 27, 2025, the Central Vietnam tourism industry successfully organized the Central Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Jakarta (Indonesia).

Accordingly, the program aims to promote the image of the Central region – with Da Nang and Hue as the center – as a diverse destination, rich in cultural identity, beautiful nature and professional Halal services, while promoting cooperation between Vietnamese and Southeast Asian tourism businesses.
The event was attended by the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Agency, the Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Malaysia, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia, and representatives of the Indonesian Travel Agents Association. In addition, there were more than 200 travel agencies, airlines, and media from the two countries.
Da Nang and Hue possess outstanding advantages: long and beautiful coastlines, a system of world cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary. Rich tourism products from high-end resorts, MICE, wedding tourism, golf, to cultural and culinary experiences have created a unique attraction for the Central region.
Within a radius of 250 km, the area has three major airports, including two international airports in Da Nang and Hue, facilitating connections to major cities of Indonesia and Malaysia, while supporting the operation of international charter flights. Currently, the route from Kuala Lumpur – Da Nang operates 35 flights/week, expected to increase to 42 flights/week from October 2025 when Vietjet Air joins the operation, while the opening of the Jakarta – Da Nang route is being strongly promoted.
One of the highlights of this program is the introduction of Halal tourism services. In Da Nang and Hue, many accommodations and attractions meet international Halal standards, creating favorable conditions for Muslim tourists from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Middle East, while contributing to enriching the multicultural tourism experience in Central Vietnam.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Director of Hue City Department of Tourism, said that Hue has been developing an international standard Halal service system, combining Hue’s cultural heritage with modern products of Da Nang to create unique experiences. Sustainable, ecological and community tours are all designed to suit the culture and religion of Muslim tourists, ensuring respect and a complete experience.
Mr. Van Ba Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, further emphasized that Da Nang is currently focusing on developing a friendly tourism environment for Muslim tourists, while promoting sustainable tourism products with local cultural characteristics. The city wants to introduce unique and distinctive experiences, from culture – cuisine to community tours, ensuring respect for the culture and beliefs of tourists.
Also on this occasion, more than 20 typical tourism businesses from Da Nang and Hue directly introduced products and connected with partners in Malaysia and Indonesia. More than 500 meetings took place, opening up cooperation opportunities in the fields of organizing MICE tours, wedding tourism, golf and Halal product packages.
According to Mr. Heben Ezer, Head of Inbound Tourism, Association of Indonesian Travel Agents (ASTINDO), “We recognize the professionalism, product diversity and commitment to sustainable tourism development that Da Nang and Hue are implementing, especially Halal services and eco-tours are highlights attracting Indonesian and international tourists.”
